Self Confessed Curriculum Junkie

I love curriculum. I enjoy seeing the latest items to old classics. I have a true eclectic heart and enjoy all types of curriculum and educational materials from workbooks to living books. I gleam the best each method has to offer and tailor it to the individual needs of my kids. I think I get abnormally excited about educational things. Only homeschool moms rush to a back to school or book sale with pure excitement feeling the victory of saving a dollar.

English Curriculum Favorites

A Beka Book :: Homeschool: I love Abeka's phonics and reading programs for K-2nd grades.

Rod and Staff Books: English: The format is old fashioned but the content is solid and challenging. If you have not started with Rod and Staff you may have to start a grade behind your child's current level.

Math Curriculum Favorites

Polka Dot Publishing: The home of Life of Fred. Life of Fred is unique as it is written in story form. It is a mastery program the can be used alone, for advanced students, or as a supplemental.

Saxon Publishers: At first I was not thrilled with this program. However, it is a solid program that has many advantages. I love the daily warm ups and constant reinforcement of past lessons. The explanations of lessons is clear and easy to follow. The program is spiral.

Singapore Math: For the advanced student and a teacher comfortable teaching math. This mastery program is visual and fast paced.

Math Mammoth - affordable, quality math worktexts and workbooks: A mastery program that is for students of every level from advance to those who need extra practice.

History Curriculum Favorites

Welcome to the Mystery of History: Great for multiple ages. The textbook is supplement with an activity book with activities, map work and timeline work.

Story of the World - History & Geography: My children learned to love history with this program. The activity books is wonderful. The curriculum is from a classical and Charlotte Mason approach.

Art Curriculum Favorite

Artistic Pursuits, art curriculum for homeschool and independant study: My favorite. It not only teaches art technique it teaches art history.

Science Curriculum Favorites

Apologia: The science program that my daughter started late in the year but voluntarily worked on until finished since she loved it. That alone gives it high praises from me.
Home School Science Curriculum, Books and Support for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for Kids :: Gravitas Publications: Real Science 4 Kids is one of our favorites. Written for the child without compromising or dumbing down content. The experiments are easy and use easy to find materials.

Preschool Curriculum Favorite

Preschool Education Christian Liberty Press: I love the format and layout. You can use it as designed or custom tailor it to any homeschool method.

Reading Curriculum Favorite

All About Reading Homeschool Reading and Spelling Curriculum, Programs | Home School Language Arts Materials: I love the hands on format. I have found the program to be quite effective. While my dyslexic daughter requires more remediation, this was the first program that we had success with.

Character Curriculum Favorite
