What We Thought

First, I want to emphasize that this movie is not a knock off of Pixar's Brave. The movies only similarity is a princess with red hair. I really don't even want to spend the time comparing the two since there not many comparisons that can be made. The movie is about Kiara trying to fight for her father's freedom and there are several other characters that are quite a differed from Brave. The CGI animation is not the greatest. The story line is confusing and the dialogue is amusing and not in a positive way. I could hardly sit through it and even the kids grew tired of it. The main character really is Super Kloud and his role is odd. Quite frankly we were all sitting there clueless trying to make sense of this movie.

Space Dogs

Synopsis:

Space Dogs is an exciting, animated tale based on the true story of Belka and Strelka, two dogs sent to space in 1960. Belka and Strelka are a circus dog and a rough and tumble stray who embark on an out of this world adventure, humbly becoming the world's most famous canine cosmonauts.

What We Thought

The movie was originally released in Russian. It does make it a bit interesting as you see the Sputnik space program presented from that point of view and there is a short tour of Worker and Kolkhoz Woman statue that was created for the Soviet Pavilion at the World's Fair. It only adds to the charm of this movie being based on a true event. A fun way to explore a little history and provoke interesting family conversations. The film is cute and the CGI is not nearly as annoying as it can be in some films. While it is not professional movie grade, the historical elements and cuteness of the dogs make it a fun little film to watch.
