Family Movie Night: Triple Feature

Triple feature night In our home! Weel, if truth be told, we watched all three movies over two days. The movies are all distributed by Phase4films.com. If you are interested in viewing or purchasing the movies you may do so at Redbox, Target, Walmart, or Amazon.com.

Smitty

Synopsis:

Mischievous thirteen-year-old Ben is sent to his grandfather’s farm for the summer, where he crosses paths with a lovable mutt. With help from the unlikely canine companion, Ben learns the importance of friendship, family and responsibility. When life gets tough for Ben, a friendly paw is all it takes to pull him through.

Rating: PG

Run Time: 94 minutes

Our Thoughts:

This could be considered a tearjerker for some. It certainly had some touching scenes. The child in the film does cuss in the beginning and is very disrespectful to adults. However, the film tells the story of how this boy learned responsibility and friendship. Just make sure if you have younger children to explain the transformation of the boy so they do not get confused by his behavior in the beginning. This is not our kind of movie, so we did not love it, but I can see how others may enjoy it. There are plenty of lessons to draw from in this film.

Freddy Frogface

Synopsis:

Being small doesn’t make life easy for little ten-year-old Victor and his friends, who not only have to face a world full of stern grown-ups but also the town bully Freddy Frogface. When a circus comes to the sleepy little town, Victor is thrilled at having the chance to perform in a talent show with his dog Sausage. Yet Freddy soon comes up with a sinister plot of his own to spoil Victor´s plans…

Rating: PG

Run Time: 85 minutes

Our Thoughts:

I was never bullied but I can relate to being smaller than most. It was a cute movie with some funny scenes making it an enjoyable family friendly movie.

Donkey X

Synopsis:

Follow Rucio, the most adventurous, brave, and mischievous donkey of Castile as he tells the true story of the legendary Don Quixote. Rucio jumps at the opportunity to join Don Quixote on his quest to battle The Half Moon Knight and overcome the dangerous obstacles that lurks them on the way.

Rating: PG

Run Time: 90 minutes

Our Thoughts:

Rucio is basicaly a twin to a famous animated donkey seen in Shrek. I found that a tad bit annoying. The kids did not mind. My seven year old loved the movie and said it was awesome. She watched it as soon as it arrived and again when we sat down to see it. Be warned, some of the language is questionable and there is a scene where a female character grabs her breasts and shakes them saying how she is a real woman. Had I seen noticed that scene when my child watched it the first time, it never would have been shown again. That was simply unnecessary. If you can get past that scene or fast forward it, the movie will entertain your family.
