What's in the Bible? DVD Review {and Giveaway}

My family has been a fan of the What's in the Bible? series since volume 1.  Now, eight volumes later they are still going strong and making learning the bible accessible to even the smallest children.  The series teaches biblical truth on a child's level without sacrificing content.  It may be silly at times but it always handles the bible with reverence and helps the lessons stick in the child's mind and heart.  My 14 year old enjoys the series because she says it is doctrinally sound for her younger sisters.  I enjoy it on every level!

I love teaching children the Old  Testament.  So, one DVD I like to show is Wanderin' in the Desert, Vol. 3.

Description:

Buck Denver and friends journey through Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy to finish out the Pentateuch in the 3rd DVD from What’s in the Bible?

Wanderin’ in the Desert contains two 25-minute episodes.

Part 1: Don’t lie, don’t cheat … don’t trim your beard? The Old Testament is full of rules, and some of them are kind of, well, weird. Learn why God gave all these rules to Israel and which ones still apply to us today!

Part 2: What is a Pentateuch? Learn about Israel’s 40-year “time-out” as we finish the first five books of the Bible! Plus, discover why we can believe what the Bible says – even though we weren’t there to see it happen!

You can purchase the DVD and any of the series directly on the What's in the Bible? site!   You can watch the series in any order but if you are like me and want to see them all you can purchase a bundle

Our Thoughts:

I get so excited when it comes to this series that I want to burst and tell you everything at once.  However, that would be a jumbled mess but there is just so much to love!  The kids love it for entertainment purposes first and then for the opportunity to learn more about the bible.  Yes, even young children love to learn about the bible and desire knowledge.  Just like Buck Denver they ask, "What's in the Bible?"  The 3rd DVD in the series, Wanderin' in the Desert, answered so many questions from history, context, background, and how it applies to our lives today.  In fact, it answers so many questions your children may run out of questions.  That is an impressive feat!  Wanerin' in the Desert gets a full 5 stars and possibly tips the scale at 6 stars from us.

What's to Love?

  • Volume is divided into two parts making it easy to divide up over two weeks in Sunday school or two days at home.  This is especially great when using the DVD to enhance your homeschool bible study.
  • The series is made for the smallest of bible lovers yet is deep enough for the emerging bible mini-scholars in your home.  Wonderful for families with multiple children who want a fun family devotion night.
  • The content!  While the content is wildly entertaining and funny the quality is not sacrificed.  Your children will learn about the bible on multiple levels from history to practical applications.  Do you have a child who wonders why all the rules existed and if we still have to follow them?  Volume three will answer those questions!
  • Kids not only enjoy it but learn from it.  It is quite adorable to hear a three year old talk about a "40 year time out".
