So here's what you need:
1 (16 oz) package of Oreos (please do not use anything else this truffle can only live up to it's name if you use Oreo otherwise you will have to rename it "Generic Oreo Type Truffles")
1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened. (feel free to go generic here)
16 ounces of melted chocolate. (I do not specify here since white, dark chocolate and semi sweet all taste great, in my opinion. The suggested chocolate is white or semi-sweet. Or you can get really fancy and dip in white and drizzle with dark or vice versa.)
Now the fun part:
Crush up those Oreo cookies! Use whatever means you find necessary from food processor, plastic bag and rolling pin or stomping them like grapes.
Mix them up with the cream cheese thoroughly.
Now you need to form this mixture into balls. You can use your hands, a small cookie scooper, or measuring spoon. Beware a small cookie scooper is still probably a bit big but hey it will keep you from eating more than one, right? I would love to tell you how many to expect but I always come out with a different number than the recipe. The recipe did state you would have 42.
Now you are ready to dip! Dip each ball into melted chocolate and place on a wax paper covered cookie sheet. Now place in the fridge in for about an hour or so.
You may drizzle with more chocolate or before placing them in the fridge you could sprinkle with crushed Oreo cookies. If you want to sprinkle them with Oreo cookies just take out about 6-9 cookies for the reserve. I always put in all the Oreos and then dip in dark chocolate and then drizzle white chocolate on top.
This makes a lovely gift for those neighbors! Who knows maybe if you give them a box of these they won't block your driveway anymore.
